Contemporary Quartz Jewellery

Quartz or natural rock crystal is available in a large variety of colours and is the most widely available semi precious gemstone. Despite its availability it is very rare to find flawless examples of the gemstone and when found these gems are highly prized and very valuable.

Some of the varieties of Quartz are: Rose Quartz; a pale pink gemstone which is usually highly included making it very cloudy (gem grade Rose Quartz is rarely found), Smoky Quartz; a charcoal to brown colour gemstone (most of the Smoky Quartz available on the market today is man made or heat treated and is a dark brown colour), Lemon Quartz; a bright yellow coloured gem, Mystic Quartz; the title 'Mystic' refers to a heat treatment of the natural gem which gives it an oil slick type surface sheen, Ghost Quartz (also known as Phantom Quartz); the name given to natural rock crystal with flawless clarity and sculptural natural inclusions.

You may also hear references to 'Cherry Quartz' and hydrothermal Quartz however these are not natural gemstones and are in fact a type of man made glass.

Citrine and Amethyst are also types of natural Quartz.

All types of Quartz are ideal for use in jewellery and Quartz jewellery can provide an affordable alternative to precious gemstone jewellery.

Our collection of designer Quartz jewellery is handmade using only genuine earth mined Quartz.
