Contemporary Ruby Jewellery
The name Ruby comes from Ruber, Latin for red. Natural Rubies are incredibly rare and have a hardness of 9.0 on Moh's scale, with only diamonds being harder.
Ruby is a variety of the mineral Corundum and varies in colour from light pink to blood red. All natural Rubies have imperfections, including colour impurities and inclusions, known as 'silk'. These natural imperfections are commonly used to distinguish a natural Ruby from a synthetic one.
Designer Ruby Jewellery
Ruby is perfect for use in jewellery and works well in both traditional Ruby jewellery designs and contemporary Ruby Jewellery. Ruby can be faceted or can be highly polished and either finish works very well in jewellery.
When buying Ruby jewellery online you should take care to buy only natural Rubies. Our designer Ruby jewellery collection features only genuine natural earth mined Rubies.
Genuine Rubies
The value of a Ruby is primarily determined by colour (with the brightest red Rubies being the most valuable), clarity, with the clearest stones commanding the highest value and also Carat weight (size). Rubies are often dyed to enhance their colour and natural colour Ruby is always valued higher than enhanced Rubies.
Ruby Necklaces
Our contemporary Ruby necklace collection features Ruby necklace designs handmade in solid gold and sterling silver using large single Ruby briolettes as stunning and unique focal pieces and also more delicate and intricate designs featuring Ruby pendants handmade using clusters of matching Rubies.
