Sapphires are one of the four 'precious' gemstones, along with Rubies, Diamonds and Emeralds. Sapphire is the birthstone for September. Blue Sapphires are associated with Saturn and Yellow Sapphires are associated with Jupiter.

Sapphire is the stone traditionally associated with the 45th wedding anniversary.

Although blue is the most usual colour of Sapphire, it is also found in pink, yellow, orange (padparadscha Sapphires) and green. Any colour other than blue is considered to be a fancy colour Sapphire. Some Sapphires are bi-coloured gemstones displaying more than one colour in the same gem.

A Star Sapphire is a type of Sapphire which displays a six rayed star shaped pattern. The value of a star sapphire is determined by the Carat weight of the gemstone, the colour and clarity of the stone and the intensity of the star.

Sapphires have a hardness of 9 on Moh's hardness scale, second only to Diamond, making them ideal for use in jewellery.

Sapphire jewellery has always been a popular choice which is timeless and can be worn by a person of any age.

Cleaning Sapphire jewellery: Sapphire jewellery can be cleaned using hot soapy water. Rinse thoroughly afterwards to avoid allergic reactions.
